The Global Conservatory

Hailed as "the gold standard in music distance learning," Manhattan School of Music is pleased to announce the launch of the Global Conservatory Videoconference Program Series. This program enables individuals and educational institutions around the world the opportunity to engage in music instruction, lessons, coachings, clinics, audition preparation techniques as well as academic and professional seminars with MSM's world-renowned faculty. Through interactive videoconferencing technology, widely-deployed on a standards-based platform, live sessions are available with artist-teachers at MSM in real-time.

MSM has collaborated closely with Polycom, Inc., a leading provider of video telepresence solutions, to customize videoconference technology to send and receive high-fidelity sound designed specifically for live, acoustic music applications. The sound quality is significantly better than the readily-available interactive social media tools such as Skype, Ichat or other instant messaging video programs. As Christianne Orto, Director of MSM's Distance Learning program states, "With CD-quality sound and HD video standards, MSM is able to offer a virtual musical learning experience which is closest to being live in a room together."
